Doing what was suggested here did not stop the problem. The Motorola MT7711 combines an ultra-fast DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem + AC1900 WiFi router + 2 phones lines for use with Xfinity Voice service only. Here is a link to my post created here yesterday before deciding on changing my IP. What is my next step? It can't be this much of a hastle to change my IP. I knew that they weren't getting my question, but humored them and said they solved my problem so I could get off the phone and try to find a real answer.

After talking to two separate "techs", all they had me do was release and renew my Windows IP address. You can also control it per SSID as well, if they are separate. Scroll down until you see MAC Filter Setting. You can only configure up to 64 items on that list for allowing devices by MAC address. In the Printers list, click your HP printer, and then click the Minus button to delete it. After that, navigate to Gateway > Connection > Wi-Fi. Make sure your Mac is connected to the Internet. Remove the printer queue from the list of printers, and then add it again. When you are connected to a tech, tell them you bought your own new modem to replace your Comcast modem. Step 2: Delete the existing print queue and add the printer. Select technical support when you call in. I tried calling Comcast, but they don't seem to understand what I'm asking. After you get your new modem and router combo, you can activate your modem using the Xfinity app or you can call Comcast customer service to activate. So I can't mess with the MAC address to force a new IP. If playback doesnt begin shortly, try restarting your device.

While you dont need to immediately update your equipment to keep your home network running, you could be missing out on improved services if you continue to use older models. However, I have a comcast issued DPC3941T modem. Like computers and mobile devices, new WiFi equipment models are released regularly. So I'm thinking I should just change my IP address. After a couple days of very frequent intermittent connection drops and trying to pinpoint the problem I noticed these messages in my router logs.įW.IPv6 FORWARD drop, 1438 Attempts.ĕ 13:54:44ğirewall BlockedįW.IPv6 INPUT drop, 295 Attempts.ĕ 13:54:44ğirewall BlockedįW.WANATTACK DROP, 2 Attempts.ĕ 09:58:02ğirewall Blockedįirewall: DoS Attack - Smurf Attack IN=erouter0 OUT= MAC=**********removed*********** SRC=46.229.170.218 DST=***removed*** LEN=40 TOS=00 PREC=0x20 TTL=29 ID=13285 PROTO=ICMP TYPE=13 CODE=0ĕ 09:20:05
